About the Role

The Manager, IELTS and Professional Learning is a key position within Humber College, responsible for the strategic planning, development, and implementation of IELTS test centre operations and continuing education programs. This role requires a strong leader who can oversee the day-to-day activities of the IELTS test centres, manage a team of staff, and develop strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Test Centre Operations: Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of IELTS test centre operations, including pre-planning, registration, staff resource management, test-day administration, post-test assessment, and score submission.
  • Team Management: Recruit, develop, manage, train, and evaluate a team of highly trained and motivated test examiners, invigilators, and support staff, ensuring they are up-to-date with the latest training and protocols.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise and coordinate with the British Council on IELTS test centre operations and personnel, as well as mandated audits and training. Respond to protocols and compliance directives from the Regional IELTS Team and the British Council.
  • Customer Service: Oversee the response to stakeholder inquiries, ensuring timely and effective resolution to daily customer service interactions, including de-escalating concerns and complaints from test takers and learners.
  • Business Development: Actively engage in investigating and identifying business development opportunities that align with Humber's strategic priorities and core business for both the IELTS test centre and continuing education programs. Develop partnerships with internal departments, staff, and students to promote the IELTS test centres and continuing education programs.
  • Marketing and Business Development Plan: Collaborate with the Associate Dean, Continuing Education, to develop a marketing and business development plan for each fiscal year to promote IELTS and continuing education programs within Humber, domestically and internationally.
  • Continuing Education Support: Support the overall operations of the Continuing Education department, including developing processes, procedures, and proposals to maximize efficiency.
Requirements
  • Education: A 4-year degree in Education, Management/Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of combined managerial experience working directly with adult learners, test takers, or language centres, including administration, operation, and management of a team, unit, or department. 5 years ESL teaching experience is also required.
  • IELTS Experience: 2-3 years experience working as an IELTS Examiner or experience managing an IELTS test centre, language centre, or continuing education unit is preferred.
  • Financial Management: Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting, reporting, and project management skills.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Experience in developing strategic partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Marketing and Business Development: Experience in marketing and developing new business opportunities, program development, and delivery.
