Job Summary

The Senior Operations Manager - Tamper Training will oversee the qualification and training of tamper operators, ensuring they meet the required standards. This role involves coordinating on-the-job training, classroom programs, and vendor-supplied instruction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement training programs for tamper operators
  • Coordinate with the Technical Training group to ensure compliance with company standards
  • Investigate equipment failures and recommend remedial action
  • Lead the bulletin awards process for Production
  • Ensure safe practices are adhered to, as recommended by machine manufacturers and/or company regulations
  • Administer the collective agreement in all areas of responsibility
  • Participate in staff requirements, including new hires

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ten years' experience in Production Crews, with at least five years' experience in Group 1 or Special Group Machine Operator
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering field operations and production crews
  • Knowledge of tamping equipment operation and safety procedures
  • CROR qualified
  • Knowledge/understanding of CBA related to qualification/disqualification of position
  • The position requires extensive travel
  • Strong computer skills
  • Organizational and people leadership
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written
