We are seeking an experienced Senior Hull Specialist to join our team in Halifax, Canada. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on high-profile projects, collaborate with industry experts, and contribute to the growth and success of Equest.
Job Summary
The Senior Hull Specialist will be responsible for supporting the AJISS Engineering team in the management of defects for Arctic and Offshore Patrol Vessels (AOPVs) and Joint Support Ships (JSS). Key responsibilities include conducting investigations, liaising with OEMs and ship staff, developing job instructions, identifying issues within the Technical Document Package (TDP), and providing technical advice.
Key Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must possess a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in a marine sector associated with vessel construction, refits, or maintenance. A strong working knowledge of marine hull systems, lifting point/appliances, paint and preservation, pipefitting and plumbing, welding methods, machinery systems, and ship structure is essential. Familiarity with certification requirements, including Classification Society, SOLAS/IMO, IEEE, CSA, Naval Ship Code, and DND regulations, is also desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working with the Royal Canadian Navy or Canadian Coast Guard is an asset. Holding certifications such as NACE, Non-Destructive Testing, Welding, or other valid certifications can also be beneficial.
Physical Demands
This role requires a mix of office work and work in dockyards and onboard naval ships. You will be required to undertake inspections in machinery spaces of naval ships involving bending and twisting, and may need to work aloft and in confined spaces on board ships.
