Physician Lead for Clinical Systems

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Lead to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the implementation and optimization of our Clinical Information System (CIS) across the province.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the institutional efforts to build, validate, and implement the physician and advanced practice provider components of the CIS.
- Collaborate with clinicians, IT staff, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of the CIS with existing systems and workflows.
- Develop and implement clinical protocols, standardization, and metrics to facilitate successful adoption of the CIS.
- Provide training and support to clinicians on the effective use of the CIS to improve patient care.
- Identify opportunities for ongoing systems improvement and changes needed to best realize the advantages of clinical automation.
- Active participation in departmental and network meetings as a CIS representative.
- Participation in Physician Needs Assessment(s) for clinical areas.
- Identification and engagement with champions and subject matter experts.
- Direct liaison with physicians with questions, concerns, and feedback.
- Expectation of minimum one presentation per month to service areas.
- Expectation of relevant contribution to design sessions meetings (clinical area).
- One Person One Record champion across the province with external stakeholders.
- Engagements with Clinical Teams.
- Medical Degree required.
- Licensed physician with current practice required.
- Informatics experience preferred.
- Ability to listen to the voice of our providers for their needs and recommendations.
- Viewed as credible, visionary, and able to produce results.
- Sound understanding of technical issues and ability to explain them to peers and users.
- Commitment to the use of technology to improve and positively affect patient care.
- Keen understanding of the regulatory and risk management requirements for the CIS.
- Ability to develop flexible, transferable models for pathways of care and order set management.
- Significant understanding of pain points, capabilities, and deficiencies in the process.
- Possesses good grasp of clinical workflow in inpatient specialty units preferred.
- Previous experience in clinical outcomes, patient safety, and quality management preferred.
- Previous experience in routine use of clinical information systems for patient care preferred.
- Successful experience with implementation of healthcare applications preferred.
- Experience with innovation preferred.
- Training in medical administration, informatics, or public health preferred.
- Expertise in data analytics and population health preferred.
Estimated at 4-6 hours per week.
CompensationBy combination of deliverable compensation.
