Job Summary
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide expert nursing care to pediatric oncology patients and their families at BC Children's Hospital. This is a vacation relief line.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and document patient health care information, maintaining accurate records of nursing observations, interventions, and evaluations.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver direct patient care activities in the clinic, utilizing appropriate nursing skills and techniques.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the pediatric oncology setting.
- Initiate and coordinate assessment and post-assessment referrals, responding to patient, family, and healthcare member inquiries.
- Teach patients, families, and healthcare professionals as required.
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Current CPR Certification.
- Recent nursing experience in the designated clinic setting, including one year's experience in client education training.
- Chemotherapy Level I.
- Central Line Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to relate effectively to children and their families.
- Ability to participate as a member of a multidisciplinary care team and function as a nursing resource team member.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments.
