Job Title: Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to join our team in the Emergency Department at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care to children and youth with complex medical and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and manage patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, including pediatric trauma and mental health crises.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families, promoting health literacy and self-management skills.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development of evidence-based practices and policies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care, including mental health and social work services.
Requirements:
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Emergency Department RNs require 1+ year of recent, related clinical experience in pediatrics or an Emergency Department setting; Emergency Nursing Pediatric course (ENPC)/Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)/Trauma Nursing Core Course preferred (TNCC).
  • Mental Health – Emergency Department RN/RPNs require 3 years' recent related experience working with children, adolescents and families on an inpatient child/adolescent mental health unit including 1 year's recent related experience in a crisis or emergency psychiatry setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience; current CPR and CPI training.
