About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Architect to join our Buildings practice in Yellowknife, NT. As a key contributor to our integrated Architecture and Engineering team, you will work collaboratively to assist clients through the planning and creation of fiscally responsible, award-winning designs.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex tasks on multiple, large scope, highly complex projects
  • Participate in proposal responses to win new work
  • Plan, organize, and direct project work to deliver successful outcomes
  • Keep the Principal in Charge informed of project progress and deadlines
  • Assist in negotiation and development of project agreements
  • Develop and manage project budget, schedule, and work plan
  • Mentor assistant Project Managers and motivate project teams
  • Ensure timely completion of Project Management Framework tasks and documentation
  • Lead project coordination and owner/site meetings
  • Manage change orders, applications for payment, and contractual modifications
  • Conduct senior peer review of deliverables
  • Work with Operations Manager to determine project staffing needs
  • Travel to small communities for building condition assessments or construction progress reviews
  • Direct client invoicing and manage collections

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Extensive project experience supporting our team's ability to win work during proposal responses
  • Ability to support multiple Principals in Charge on multiple projects
  • Excellent understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, northern building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards
  • Proactive and able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Team player with excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and preferred experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp

Education and Experience

  • Professional degree in Architecture and a minimum of 10 years of related work experience
  • Registered or able to become registered within one year as an Architect with the Northwest Territories Association of Architects (NWTAA) or another Canadian Architects Association
