Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer all structural engineered systems or products for a project.
  • Develop designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Utilize BIM technologies to create three-dimensional models of building's structural systems and provide markups for junior engineers/designers.
  • Prepare and revise documentation in various structural phases, including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimating.
  • Assist upper-level staff with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
  • Perform and oversee the performance of calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Utilize advanced techniques for the analysis of specialized building elements for wood framed and steel building.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects.
  • Work on multiple projects.
Requirements:
  • Requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes.
  • General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team settings and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit; Prefer experience with AutoCAD, Newforma, Component Design Software, Comprehensive Building Analysis Software, and Structure Finite Element Analysis such as RAM concept, Risa 3D, and SAFE.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ideally 10 years of related work experience, but only a minimum of 5 years of experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer eligible for registration with the Engineers Yukon and Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (NAPEG).
