Nurse Practitioner

Under the general direction of the Team Manager, as part of the multidisciplinary team, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide advanced nursing care to clients in the community.
Key Responsibilities:- Apply advanced nursing and medical theory to provide clinical care, autonomously ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmacologic agents, and performing minor invasive procedures.
- Contribute to the advancement of the nursing profession through current and relevant nursing and medical theory.
- Integrate medical knowledge and advanced nursing knowledge into clinical practice.
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff, and demonstrate competence to practice autonomously in the implementation of strategies to promote health and prevent illness.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to provide effective care.
- Minimum of five (5) years recent clinical nursing experience required; preferably in the primary care setting.
- Experience working with clients with mental health and/or addictions an asset.
- Experience working across sectors and linking between programs/organizations considered an asset.
- Two years of practice in the extended practice role in community health and primary care an asset.
- Demonstrated clinical competence in the delivery of primary care services to a variety of client groups.
- Masters of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Stream or equivalent educational preparation as approved by College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) required.
- Nurse practitioners have the authority to provide extended practice nursing care if they are competent to provide that care, the care is endorsed in the practice setting, and is within the scope of nursing practice as defined by the CRNM.
- Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.
- Proficient with computers, software programs, and applications such as Windows and Word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Competency in managing technology in healthcare systems.
- Ability to perform independently, take initiative, and as a member of the healthcare team.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.
- Ability to function in a demanding and stressful environment.
- Demonstrated effective conceptual, organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking/problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to plan, manage, and implement change effectively.
- Ability to foster inter-personal relationships including effective negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated effective group facilitation skills.
