About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Capital Markets Technology Specialist to join our team at Royal Bank of Canada. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting the stability and availability of our critical applications used for life cycle management of trades from trade feed to PnL and risk management and settlement.

Your primary responsibility will be to maintain the smooth operation of our front office, middle office, and back office systems, ensuring that daily functions run without interruption. You will also be responsible for orchestrating software releases after hours on weekdays, primarily on Fridays, and participating in an on-call weekend rotation for issue resolution, triaging, and infrastructure maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Address issues promptly impacting business operations in front office, middle office, and back office
  • Drive improved stability and data quality delivery to front office, middle office, and back office; contribute to and enhance the configuration of our monitoring platform ITRS
  • Document new issues and maintain/enhance existing documentation for consistent steps performed for known issues
  • Coordinate between Support, Development, Analytics, Quants groups to remediate issues, investigate pricing failures, and resolve issues using SQL, Unix, Windows skills
  • Develop scripts to automate processes using Powershell and other scripting languages
  • Engage in platform-related projects, including vulnerability remediation, business continuity practice, and automation of day-to-day tasks; perform change and release practices to deploy proprietary and vendor-based software
Requirements
  • 4+ years' experience in LINUX and WINDOWS operating systems with problem-solving and scripting skills
  • Strong SQL Administration, including writing complex queries and creating reports
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring solutions like ITRS Geneos, Dynatrace, Elastic Search, or similar tools
  • Proven experience in mid-senior production support roles facilitating multiple requests and efforts around program management, daily requests, infrastructure, and application management
  • Familiarity with front-to-back-office processes and systems used in trading environments, including job scheduling services (autosys / Control M), middleware (Solace, MQ), and infrastructure engineering and design
  • Capital Markets experience in communicating and managing incidents impacting critical trading services around market data, order management, or risk
