About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Orthotist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the successful candidate will provide a diverse range of clinical interventions to a pediatric and adult population.

The ideal candidate will possess a high degree of expertise in decision-making, creativity, interpersonal skills, and professional development. They will provide clinical leadership, particularly in complex cases, and have the knowledge, skill, and judgment needed to provide competent, evidence-informed care.

The dynamic environment requires the Certified Orthotist to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to solve challenging clinical issues. They will support the development of students and colleagues through acting as a preceptor and providing ongoing mentorship.

The successful candidate will attend clinics, rounds, conferences, and meetings as required and provide supervision and evaluation of students and/or technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical interventions to a pediatric and adult population
  • Provide clinical leadership, particularly in complex cases
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals
  • Support the development of students and colleagues
  • Attend clinics, rounds, conferences, and meetings as required

Requirements:

  • Must hold title of Certified Orthotist from Orthotics Prosthetics Canada
  • 1-3 years of professional experience, ideally in a hospital setting, preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work independently
  • Excellent communication, observation, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyze assessment data and identify treatment needs
  • Understanding of Privacy legislation and commitment to the protection of personal health information
