Server (Part Time) - Hospitality Professional

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Server to join our team at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel in Ottawa. As a Server, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a memorable dining experience for our guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service to guests
  • Assist guests with menu items and answer questions in an informative and helpful way
  • Follow outlet policies, procedures and service standards to ensure a high level of quality and consistency
  • Have full knowledge of beverage lists and promotions to make informed recommendations to guests
  • Have full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods to answer guest questions
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage to ensure a safe and healthy environment for guests
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Previous customer service experience required
  • 1-2 years server experience in a similar environment
  • Previous point of sale system experience an asset, but not required
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Fluent in both official languages required
  • Smart Serve Certification required
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible and reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Passing grade on the written recruitment server exam

Physical Aspects of Position:

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, lifting
  • Occasional ascending or descending stairs and ramps
