About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Consultant to join our Assessment, Social, and Ecology team in the Yukon office. As an Environmental Consultant, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from designing and leading biological surveys to conducting habitat assessments and environmental compliance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and lead biological surveys, conduct habitat assessments, environmental compliance monitoring, and environmental permitting.
  • Collect, manage, interpret, and report on data.
  • Support the development of scopes of work and budgets for proposals.
  • Design and implement terrestrial and aquatic habitat mitigation and offsetting measures.
  • Contribute to the compilation and writing of regulatory submissions.
  • Contribute to the development of environmental assessment reports and support project teams during all stages of a project life cycle.
  • Manage and track communication processes between proponents, environmental teams, and regulatory agencies.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies and Indigenous peoples.
  • Mentor junior staff.
  • Provide and receive constructive feedback on the work of others and yourself.
  • Adhere to health and safety plans and quality processes on all work, projects, and reports.
Requirements
  • A university degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of industry experience within environmental consulting.
  • A professional designation (e.g., R.P.Bio or P.Biol.) or eligibility for a designation.
  • Knowledge of provincial, territorial, and federal environmental legislation gained through formal studies or practical experience.
  • Experience with proposal preparation.
  • Experience leading and conducting biological surveys, aquatic or terrestrial habitat assessments, environmental monitoring, permitting, and reporting.
  • Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions for long periods at a time and in remote locations.
  • Ability to coordinate and work effectively with environmental subcontractors.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to think independently and strategically, maintain a positive attitude, be self-motivated, and employ a strong work initiative.
  • Ability to work with junior and senior staff on various projects of differing complexity.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office programs.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • High commitment to health and safety.
