Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Hospitality Support Worker to join our team at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will provide exceptional customer service and support to our guests, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service and cashier duties, utilizing various systems to process transactions and complete end-of-day procedures.
  • Assist in food preparation, ensuring Food Safe conditions are met or exceeded at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with programming to prepare cold kitchen items and support a seamless experience for customers.
  • Work in various service styles, including banquet, quick, counter, and table service, and assist with bartending duties as needed.
  • Follow guidelines during service, adhering to portion control guidelines and ensuring accurate menu information and pricing.
  • Label items for sale, update daily menu information, and restock as necessary.
  • Organize till floats, prepare change orders, and address customer inquiries.
  • Assist with receiving and dispersing food and supply orders, as well as banquet set-ups, service, and tear-down.
  • Complete dishwashing and cleaning tasks as required.
  • Participate as a team member, accepting personal accountability and holding others accountable.
  • Communicate effectively at all times, ensuring the receiver fully understands the communication.
  • Facilitate various promotional activities.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent (about 12 years of formal education).
  • 2 years' experience working in a food service setting.
  • Food Safe Level 1 Certification.
  • Excellent customer service skills and effective, appropriate, and professional communication.
  • Able to address minor workplace issues that arise in day-to-day operations.
  • Knowledge of basic service standards and ability to multitask in various service styles.
  • Basic understanding of point-of-sale operation and Moneris devices.
  • Able to operate commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Knowledge of safe handling of chemicals used in food service settings.
  • Bondable.
  • Computer skills, including knowledge of software prevalent in food services (labeling, online ordering, online scheduling, time sheets).
