We are seeking a highly skilled Equipment Planning Specialist to join our team at Volkswagen Group of America. This is a temporary flex hybrid model requiring 2 days in the St. Thomas office, subject to change based on the needs and nature of this project.

As an Equipment Planning Specialist, you will be responsible for proposing, developing, presenting, and coordinating planning concepts for machinery and the plant involved in the production of battery cell factories, covering process steps including mixing, coating, calendaring, electrode baking, and slitting.

About the Job
  • This is a full-time position that requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including equipment suppliers, design engineering, and manufacturing operations.
  • You will work closely with project stakeholders to define manufacturing strategy for battery cell high-volume production, ensuring smooth production start-ups and optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform tasks related to cell electrode manufacturing for battery cell production plants, including mixing, coating, calendaring, electrode baking, and slitting.
  • Define manufacturing strategy for battery cell high-volume production, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Lead multi-equipment planning from concept phase through to process implementation in mass production, ensuring seamless production start-ups.
  • Provide expertise on certification and permitting of cell manufacturing equipment in Canada, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical, mechanical, materials, chemical, or electrochemical engineering, or a related major.
  • PhD degree with 5+ years', Master's degree with 8+ years', or Bachelor's degree with 10+ years' experience working in Li-ion battery cell industry, ideally within a global organization.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing/planning cell electrode equipment and extensive experience in battery cell manufacturing, including knowledge of mixing, coating, calendaring, electrode baking, and slitting processes.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
