Casual On-Demand Shuttle Driver Role

Job Summary:

PWTransit Canada is seeking part-time/casual On-Demand Shuttle Drivers to join our team. As a Shuttle Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers while providing superior customer service and demonstrating strong communication skills, patience, maturity, and initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transportation: Safely transport passengers according to established policy and procedures.
  • Software Interface: Interface with On-Demand software via on-board tablet, which provides real-time instructions to drivers.
  • Communication: Maintain radio contact with base and use proper communications protocol.
  • Vehicle Operation: Operate shuttle vehicles in a safe manner in all weather/road conditions.
  • Customer Service: Provide information to and assist passengers in a courteous manner.
  • Problem Resolution: Manage passenger behaviour by quickly and effectively solving problems.
  • Reporting: Report vehicle maintenance issues, passenger emergencies, and schedule concerns.
  • Pre- and Post-Trip Checks: Conduct pre-and-post trip checks of vehicles prior to/after their use.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete various forms of paperwork, as required.

Requirements:

  • Driver's License: Valid Class 4 driver's license.
  • Clean Driver's Abstract: Clean driver's abstract.
  • Criminal Record Check: Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing: Negative drug and alcohol testing.
  • Knowledge of City Roadways: Strong knowledge of City of Edmonton roadways.
  • Physical Ability: Physical ability to push/pull wheelchairs up and down a ramp or onto lift.
  • Organizational Skills: Organized, punctual, and reliable.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Calm, upbeat, and helpful manner.
  • Driving Skills: Excellent driving skills and habits.

Position Details:

  • Hours of Work: Hours per week; shifts cover absences of full-time employees for vacation, illness etc.
  • Compensation: Competitive wages.
  • Training: Paid training.
  • Flexibility: Part-time/casual drivers require the flexibility to be on-call, report for shifts with little notice, and work evenings and weekends when required.
