Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Nursing Unit Assistant to join the Pre-Admission's team at Vancouver General Hospital. As a key member of the team, you will provide clerical and receptionist support to ensure the smooth delivery of client care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of clerical duties, including transcribing and processing physicians' orders, communicating with other departments and hospitals, and arranging client tests and receiving results.
  • Receive visitors and answer the telephone, prioritizing requests and maintaining an organized and efficient work environment.
  • Assemble and maintain client charts, arrange for client admissions and discharges, and perform timekeeping functions and compile statistics.
  • Type and distribute technical and non-technical reports and other materials utilizing computer systems and software relevant to the job.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program, plus one year's recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, deal with others effectively, and possess physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
