Job Summary

Northern Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Chief Medical Information Officer to lead the development and implementation of medical and clinical information management strategies. The successful candidate will be responsible for advancing the utilization of technology-enabled solutions to improve quality outcomes for patients across clinical operations and team-based care.

Main Responsibilities

• Provide medical leadership and strategic direction for the development and implementation of clinical information systems and technology-enabled solutions.
• Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Information System and key clinical leaders to advise on strategies for development, design, implementation, benefits, change management, adoption, and utilization of informatics solutions.
• Ensure that strategies align with organizational objectives, clinical needs are translated into technology solutions that optimize care quality and patient safety, and innovation and development of a clinically appropriate information culture is championed.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clinical leaders, physicians, and other stakeholders to promote the adoption of technology-enabled solutions and improve clinical outcomes.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice medicine in BC.
• Eligible for privileges and credentialing with Medical Affairs of Northern Health.
• Clinical leadership experience in the healthcare sector, including experience with electronic clinical systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Broad knowledge of clinical practice and the roles of multidisciplinary healthcare team members within a patient- and family-centered care model.
• Ability to translate clinician requirements into clinician-useful information systems.
• Understanding and ability to apply the latest research on best-evidenced practices related to clinical information systems.
