About the Role

The Financial Controller and Business Strategist will play a critical role in shaping the financial future of EQI Ltd. This position requires a highly motivated and experienced individual who can drive financial growth and success.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Accounting department's multi-year plan.
  • Manage Accounting department operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, organizing and coordinating the allocation of resources.
  • Determine and analyze financial business requirements in partnership with all departments.
  • Prepare/review and analyze monthly statements, including consolidation of results for all business operations.
  • Coordinate and prepare annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Monitor, manage, and control cash requirements of the company on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for compliance with government reporting and tax filings (HST, WSIB, Payroll, etc).
  • Responsible for year-end audit and report preparation and working with external accountants.
  • Manage and develop accounting and payroll staff.
  • Maintain the capital asset system and records.
  • Calculate factory and department overhead rates.
  • Work closely with Sales and Operations to complete the monthly financial closing process.
  • Manage finance department (A/P & A/R) and ensure work assigned is completed on time with accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Accounting Designation Preferred but not required (CPA – CA, CMA, CGA).
  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field.
  • Proficient in MS Office, with high level of proficiency in Excel.
  • Financial user of ERP systems (Epicor).
  • 5+ years of experience managing an accounting department preferably in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment.
  • High level of organizational and analytical skills.
  • A curious leader who pays attention to detail and is dedicated to continuous improvement.
  • Team player with a hands-on approach and leads by example.
  • Superior troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentations to management and external contacts.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
