Electrical Engineering Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team at Shermco, a leading provider of electrical testing and engineering services. As an Electrical Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for performing electrical analysis and design in both industrial and utility sectors. Your expertise will be utilized to design and integrate protective relaying systems, industrial/ utility substation automation, and electrical distribution system design and modifications. You will also conduct electrical studies, troubleshoot problems, and develop practical solutions to correct deficiencies in electrical systems. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to support field services division for maintenance and commissioning activities on customer sites.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform electrical analysis and design in both industrial and utility sectors
  • Design and integrate protective relaying systems
  • Industrial/Utility substation automation
  • Electrical distribution system design and modifications
  • Conduct electrical studies
  • Troubleshoot problems and develop practical solutions
  • Support field services division for maintenance and commissioning activities

Requirements:
  • An electrical engineering technology diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Understanding of industrial/utility protection and relay system
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (CEC, IEEE1584)
  • Experience with electrical engineering software such as EasyPower, SKM and ETAP considered an asset
  • Understanding of microprocessor-based relays and their capabilities considered an asset
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and clean abstract as fieldwork will be a requirement of this position
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently

Pay Scale:
  • $35 to $55 depending on experience
  • Overtime after 8 hours, Double time after 10 hours
