Job Description


We are seeking an experienced Billing Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our billing department, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely client billing. This includes determining appropriate rates for client and/or matter intake, setting up and maintaining client/matter rates and budgets, and resolving outstanding issues related to ebilling platforms.


Main Responsibilities:



  • Determine appropriate rates for client and/or matter intake to ensure consistency with engagement letters or previously negotiated agreements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely set up and maintenance of client/matter rates and budgets in both the accounting system and 3rd party ebilling platforms.
  • Liaise with clients on rate submissions through 3rd party ebilling platforms and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Implement Client Rate Renewals and apply approved changes to timekeeper rates throughout the year.
  • Liaise with Pricing and Legal Project Management team to obtain new rates and client/matter agreements prior to deadlines.
  • Expert in rates management structures in Aderant that supports the billing process and provides guidance to the Billing and e-Billing team.
  • Respond to routine questions and provide information regarding rates and special fee arrangements.
  • Maintain and update training documentation and recordings pertinent to administration of billing rate and special fee arrangements.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, management, external vendors, and contacts at all levels of the organization.
  • Participate in department projects as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications


To succeed in this role, you will need:



  • A College diploma or University Degree specializing in a business discipline.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in finance / billing / project management within the legal or professional services industry.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • The ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Proficiency in MS Office product suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and mastery of advanced data functions.
  • Experience with eBilling platforms and Accounting Systems such as Aderant or Elite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
