Student Services Advisor

About the Role
This position will play a key role in supporting the delivery of services for students enrolled in the A'Paqt project. You will work closely with students to help them make informed decisions, solve problems, and achieve their goals. Your focus will be on engaging and supporting a caseload of students, including prospective, transitioning-in, current, and transitioning-out students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and support to students in areas such as Accessibility, Career, Enrolment, Finance, Learning, Student Life, and Wellness.
- Help students explore career and employment options, and provide information on college policies and program selection.
- Assist students in planning their academic and personal commitments, including financial and academic-related items.
- Develop and deliver events, activities, and interactions that support student growth, engagement, and leadership.
- Refer students to internal and external resources, including learning disability and counselling supports.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field, such as Student Affairs, Indigenous Studies, Adult Education, Education, or Social Science.
- Minimum of three years of recent and relevant occupational experience in student services or supporting adults in personal, academic, and/or career development.
- Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous students and communities, and knowledge of Mi'kmaw language, culture, and traditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
