About the Role

Odgers Berndtson is seeking a highly skilled Director of Sustainability and Regulatory Affairs to join our client, Food, Health & Consumer Products Canada (FHCP). As a key member of the sustainability team, you will play a critical role in shaping public policy and industry actions to promote a healthier, more sustainable, and ethical food and packaged goods system.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Regulatory Affairs and Policy Development: Collaborate with the Vice President of Sustainability to inform and influence federal, provincial, and territorial regulatory and policy development, focusing on the advancement of a circular economy and improved environmental performance.
  2. Industry Initiatives and Stakeholder Engagement: Work with members and industry partners to develop and implement solutions-minded consensus building strategies, driving policy and best practices on extended producer responsibility, emissions reduction, and data collection and reporting.
  3. Leadership and Team Management: Provide strategic guidance and support to the sustainability team, ensuring the success of the organization and its members in a rapidly evolving regulatory, policy, and market landscape.
Requirements
  1. Post-Secondary Degree: A degree in a relevant field, such as sustainability, environmental science, or a related field.
  2. Regulatory Affairs Experience: At least 10 years of experience in regulatory affairs, sustainability, or environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.
  3. Technical Expertise: Direct experience in emissions reduction, circular economy, and extended producer responsibility, with a strong ability to understand and interpret technical and regulatory documents.
  4. Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information quickly, clearly, and rationally to internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Leadership and Teamwork: A strong ability to perform effectively as an individual contributor, collaborator, and team player, with a consultative and transparent approach to stakeholder engagement.
