As a key member of our inter-professional clinical team, you will provide evidence-informed withdrawal management and related mental health and addiction care in an outpatient setting.
Responsibilities- Assess and manage substance use disorders, working collaboratively with the clinical team to initiate and monitor withdrawal management protocols.
- Conduct risk assessments and interventions for suicide, self-harm, or harm to others, ensuring timely and effective care.
- Develop and implement care and discharge plans in collaboration with the client, clinical team, and family, prioritizing trauma-informed and culturally safe care.
- Provide brief interventions related to substance use and concurrent disorders, leveraging your expertise to support clients in achieving optimal outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely health records, adhering to Nova Scotia Health documentation policies.
This full-time position requires a commitment of 37.5 hours per week, with work hours Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm.
Qualifications- Certification in Addiction Medicine through the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) or equivalent is required.
- Active credentials and privileges with Nova Scotia Health Authority are necessary.
- Liability insurance through the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) must be maintained.
Clinical experience in practicing Addiction Medicine is an asset, but not a requirement. Training and mentoring opportunities are available for those with limited or no clinical experience in this setting.
