About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Legal Advisor to join our team at Highland Shores Children's Aid. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a vital role in providing expert legal guidance and representation to support the well-being of children and families in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality legal representation in child protection matters and related proceedings;
  • Ensure efficient and effective management of staff and resources within the legal department;
  • Deliver excellent service in day-to-day operations and provide guidance and assistance as needed;
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide comprehensive legal services to Society staff.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Demonstrated membership in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada;
  • Proven litigation skills and negotiation techniques;
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience practicing in Family law, preferably at a Child Welfare organization;
  • Experience in Child Protection Law, Family Law, and Children's law, including the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Division/General Division;
  • Command of the Child and Family Services Act and the Family Law Rules;
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and mediation skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Knowledge of human resources management principles, including harassment, discrimination policies, and human rights legislation;
  • A valid driver's license and $1,000,000 automobile liability insurance, and a satisfactory vulnerable sector check.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is estimated to be between $98,658 and $120,036 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We also offer a range of benefits, including an employee assistance program.
