Dietitian - Primary Health Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Dietitian to join our Primary Health Care team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a member of our team, you will provide expert knowledge and skills on a wide range of issues from advocacy to assessment to case management. Your expertise will be utilized to support people living with diabetes and other chronic health problems, as well as community development and advocacy.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other disciplines and committees to achieve excellence in patient care. You will be responsible for providing health assessment, interventions, and follow-up in accordance with relevant acts, regulations, policies, standards, guidelines, mission, and objectives.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a strong background in human nutrition and dietetics. You will have a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from a recognized university and a dietetic internship. Current membership in the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association is required, as well as annual continuing education to maintain your Nova Scotia license. Two years of clinical experience is preferred, as well as membership in Dietitians of Canada and certification as a Certified Diabetes Educator.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Computer proficiency in MS Office, email, and internet is also required. Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French being preferred.
Hours and CompensationThis is a short assignment part-time position, with 45 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate is $43.42. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
