About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Dietitian to join our Primary Health Care team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a member of our team, you will provide expert knowledge and skills on a wide range of issues related to health promotion, illness prevention, screening, treatment, and monitoring of people living with diabetes and other chronic health problems.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other disciplines and committees to achieve excellence in patient care. You will be required to provide health assessment, interventions, and appropriate follow-up in accordance with relevant acts, regulations, policies, standards, guidelines, mission, and objectives.

About You
  • Master's degree in Human Nutrition or a related field
  • Current membership in the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association
  • Annual continuing education to maintain Nova Scotia license
  • Two years of clinical experience preferred
  • Membership in Dietitians of Canada preferred
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required
  • Designation as a Certified Diabetes Educator preferred
  • Experience with group education
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with principles of Motivational Interviewing
  • Exhibits creative problem-solving ability
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint), email, and internet
  • Ability to work well independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective research and analytical thinking skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred
Hours
  • Short assignment part-time position; 45 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives

$43.42 hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
