About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Category Business Manager to join our team at Canadian Tire Corporation. As a key member of our merchandising team, you will be responsible for delivering financial plans for our merchandising categories through the development and execution of assortment, pricing, and promotional plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject-matter expert for the Pressure Washers, Auto Shelters, and Auto Body Repair categories, providing in-depth knowledge and insights to inform business decisions.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of consumer trends, competitive analysis, and market nuances to inform category strategies.
  • Support assortment analysis and development on SKU lines, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Plan, execute, and deliver against categorical assortment plans, evolving to customer-centric measures and metrics.
  • Recommend action plans for item discontinuation and pricing, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Define and execute against categorical promotional plans, including promotional item selection and offer delivery.
  • Provide content for store education on product and process knowledge, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate promotional and pricing strategies, driving business results and customer loyalty.
  • Develop, mentor, guide, and coach Category Business Analysts, setting clear performance objectives and providing ongoing feedback.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in category management or a relevant cross-functional role, with a proven track record of delivering business results.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business plans and initiatives that achieve financial performance and operational targets.
  • Strong business acumen skills, with expertise in retail marketing, consumer trends, and inventory management.
  • Absolute commitment to delivering consumer-focused initiatives, with superior innovation management skills.
  • Strong people management skills, with the ability to develop and coach others.
  • Superior leadership skills and presence, with a highly developed sense of accountability and passion for delivering results.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade key stakeholders.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to travel 2-4 weeks per year.
