Job Title: Outreach Team Leader

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Outreach Team Leader to join our team. As a key member of our outreach team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management and operations of programs and services, ensuring a healthy and safe environment for our members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure processes are being followed to maintain a safe environment for members and staff.
  • Provide crisis intervention for members as required, conduct checks to ensure the safety of the facility and members, and complete checks-ins with a designated contact.
  • Understand and promote members' rights and responsibilities, provide transportation to and from various locations, and follow all traffic laws while driving defensively.
  • Report concerns promptly to the Coordinator of Outreach Services, ensure proper lifting, twisting, and reaching techniques are used during job performance, and use PPE provided when necessary.
  • Ensure individual's health and medical needs are accurately attended to in a timely fashion, and that all medication is properly administered and recorded (where applicable).
  • Recognize and report concerns of abuse or neglect, provide emotional support for members as required, and assist the Coordinator in developing meals and meal plans.
  • Be involved in implementing and monitoring individual plans, provide individuals with support in pre-planning, and communicate necessary information and maintain positive relationships with other agencies or programs.
  • Encourage and assist each individual to participate in daily activities, ensure that the environment of the program is supportive, nurturing, and encourages a high degree of member involvement, and role model appropriate behavior and attitude.
  • Responsible for the wise use of member and program resources, develop opportunities for relationships with families and the community, and assist individuals' to develop positive social interactions.
  • Treat all members and staff with respect and dignity at all times, and ensure all contact with others is courteous and professional.
  • Assist the Coordinator in creating, managing, and facilitating appropriate activities, special events, and spiritual care programs according to member interest, skill, and ability levels.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • A Community College diploma or University degree in a community-based facility, preferably in a field of disabilities.
  • A valid Manitoba Class V driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • A criminal record check, child abuse registry check, adult abuse registry check, and acceptable driver's abstract.
  • At least two years' experience in developmental services, with experience in the field of disabilities considered an asset.
Preferred Skills/Capabilities:
  • Significant reading, writing, arithmetic, and computer skills.
  • Significant memory and concentration.
  • Significant reasoning and judgment.
  • Ability to understand members' needs, frequent multi-tasking, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent team and interpersonal skills, fluent spoken and written English, and ability to handle the physical demands of the job.
