Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $26.27 - $37.81 per hour, based on the standard Quebec hourly rate for this type of employment.

Job Description

As a Special Education Technician, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to implement special education techniques and methods tailored to individualized education plans for students with handicaps, social maladjustments, or learning difficulties. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in the development and drafting of intervention plans under the guidance of the school principal and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Developing, organizing, and leading educational, pedagogical, cultural, recreational, and sports activities aimed at enhancing social, cognitive, psychomotor, communication, and other skills.
  • SUPPORTING STUDENTS IN THEIR LEARNING AND AUTONOMY DEVELOPMENT BY OBSERVING SITUATIONS AND INTERVENING AS NEEDED.
  • Collaborating with teachers to create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Using communication techniques adapted to students' needs.
  • Recording observations and interventions, maintaining records, and writing reports on student situations.
  • Communicating with external stakeholders, as required.
  • Meeting with students, parents, and teaching staff to provide advice, information, and relevant documentation.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Diploma of College Studies in Special Care Counselling or an equivalent recognized by the competent authority.
  • A certificate dated within three years attesting to the completion of a standard first aid course and a refresher course updating those skills.
  • Fluency in both French and English (oral and written).
