Caregiver Role Overview
BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services is seeking a Caregiver to join our team in a hospital setting. As a Caregiver, you will work closely with patients and their families to provide support and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients/families and provide support following established care plans.
- Provide personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, and assisting with daily living activities.
- Perform nursing care functions, such as ensuring patients know their care plans and communicating with the nursing team.
- Respond to call bells and alarms, and assist with emergent situations.
- Monitor patient progress and report significant observations to the nursing team.
Requirements
- Grade 10 or equivalent education.
- Graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant or Care Attendant program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
