Mogno Carpenter is seeking a skilled Carpentry Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for preparing estimates of labour and/or material costs, reading blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements, and measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.

The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience in the trade, with a strong understanding of construction principles and practices. You will be required to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in noisy and dusty environments. A combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling will be necessary, as well as handling heavy loads and working with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fitting and installing windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
  • Scheduling and co-ordinating work on sites
  • Estimating costs and materials
  • Maintaining, repairing and renovating residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments

Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in the trade
  • Strong understanding of construction principles and practices
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in noisy and dusty environments
  • Ability to handle heavy loads and work with minimal supervision
  • Reliable and accurate individual with excellent judgement
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to values and ethics
