About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our Commercial Operations team as a Commercial Operations Specialist.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced team environment and gain supply chain management and commercial experience through a variety of assignments and special projects.

As a Commercial Operations Specialist, you will be a valuable member of one of our teams working with and contributing to a variety of areas, such as Procurement, Contracts, Process & Continuous Improvement, Inventory, or Business Analytics.

You will develop your skills and add value while also having the chance to meet other students and partake in initiatives such as the Intern Social Committee and other corporate initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in strategic sourcing efforts (RFIs and RFPs) to award contracts to best total value suppliers
  • Take part in negotiation strategies that support and deliver cost, delivery, and business value for Canadian Natural
  • Assist to develop sustainable supply chain strategies through market research, needs analysis, risk and commercial analysis
  • Support contract administration activities includes data analysis, maintain meeting minutes, action items follow-up and assist in contract close out process
  • Understand and coordinate with Business partners to ensure the right material at the right time, at the right price and place is achieved
  • Procure materials and services to support business operating requirements, ensuring the efficient delivery of materials to end customer locations to support operations needs
  • Develop inventory strategies that maximize inventory investment with operational goals
  • Participate in new technology assessments, selections, implements and continuous improvements initiatives
  • Perform data mining and modeling to meet agreed to reporting requirements
  • Support users and application developers in the creation of Business Intelligence reports and visualizations that bring actionable information to decision makers
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Information Systems, Operations Management or similar programs
  • Business mindset with a daily focus on continuous improvements
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Effective with time management (high volume) and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail
  • Utilizes a structured approach for problem solving
  • Effective interpersonal skills to interface with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and respond to the changing environment
