Description: We are seeking an experienced Journeyperson Plumber to join our team at Trotter & Morton Group of Companies. As a key member of our mechanical division, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining domestic, commercial, or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems
  • Install domestic, commercial, or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems
  • Repair and maintain existing plumbing systems
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings
  • Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
  • Assist with material handling
  • Maintain a clean working area at all times and perform housekeeping duties on site
  • Ensure full compliance with Trotter & Morton Safety programs

Requirements:

  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Competent use of hand and power tools
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Ability to work with others as part of a team
  • Progress within the plumbing trade through a recognized apprenticeship program
  • Ability to work on construction sites that may be outside
  • Physical stamina required to use proper lifting techniques for heavy pipes weighing in excess of 25 kilograms, be on your feet for long periods, and sometimes work in cramped positions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Experience in commercial construction is an asset
