Career Opportunity: Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Acute Spinal Unit at Vancouver General Hospital.


About the Role: As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary care team. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate client care for designated patient groups, participate in discharge planning, and teach clients and their families about illness, injury, and health promotion.


Responsibilities:



  1. Provide nursing care to assigned patients/clients, working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
  2. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate client care for designated general medicine and surgical patient groups.
  3. Participate in discharge planning, function as a client advocate, and teach clients and their families about illness/injury and overall health promotion and wellness.
  4. Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the client/family.
  5. Document care provided and respond to incidents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  6. Consult, confer, and collaborate with other healthcare providers.
  7. Maintain and advance your own clinical competence.
  8. Participate on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.

Qualifications:


Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is required. You must have demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to the designated client group, the ability to develop and implement care plans, and the ability to adjust to unexpected events, problem-solve, set priorities, and deal with conflict.
