Overview

Providence Health Care is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Geriatric Nurse Practitioner to join our Acute Care Medicine Unit. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional care to older adults with complex medical needs.

About the Role

This role requires a strong clinical background in gerontology, acute care medicine, and nursing practice. You will be responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with undifferentiated diseases, disorders, and conditions, as well as providing first-line care in emergencies and continuous care.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat patients with undifferentiated diseases, disorders, and conditions
  • Provide first-line care in emergencies and continuous care
  • Monitor ongoing care, order screening diagnostic investigations, and interpret reports
  • Establish priorities for management of health, disease, disorder, or condition, provide follow-up treatment, and communicate with patients and families about health findings, diagnoses, and priorities
  • Collaborate with medical staff colleagues, healthcare teams, and social service providers to determine patient status and develop treatment plans

Requirements

  • Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals
  • Successful completion or awaiting results of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)
  • Completion of the Basic Cardiac Life Support Course, Level C
