Controller Job Description

Recruitment Partners is seeking an experienced Controller to join our client's team in Calgary. The successful candidate will manage full-cycle accounting for a small/medium business, overseeing one Accounts Receivable and one Accounts Payable position. Key responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain timely and accurate IFRS financial statements, reports, and memos.
  • Maintain a strong financial control environment, identifying control weaknesses and implementing new controls/procedures where required.
  • Play a key role in the month-end process.
  • Prepare year-end files and serve as the first point of contact with auditors and tax advisors.
  • Oversee accounting operations, including control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
  • Calculate variances from budgets and report significant points to management and the Board of Directors.
  • Assist with budget preparation and forecasting.
  • Manage and support the AR and AP Specialists, and assist in cash flow and treasury management.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with operations, departments, and stakeholder groups.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including Income Tax, GST, PST, and Fuel Tax.
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
Requirements:
  • CPA designation with 5+ years of relevant experience in Accounting or Finance, and Public Accounting.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in People Management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of IFRS.
  • Sage 300 and Manufacturing experience is an asset.
  • Positive team management.
