Job Summary:

The Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking a skilled Utility Operator 2 to join the Parks division. This permanent, full-time position involves a wide range of duties, including operating light vehicles and equipment, loading and unloading materials, and maintaining tools and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate light vehicles and equipment, such as dump trucks, utility vehicles, and articulated loaders.
  • Load and unload equipment and materials.
  • Maintain and safely operate assigned tools and equipment.
  • Work safely and cooperatively with other classifications.
  • Communicate effectively with members of the public, teammates, and management.
  • Complete daily work-related written reports.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of related work experience.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver's License Class 5 with a condition 15 endorsement.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions:

The Utility Operator 2 will work in various locations indoors and outdoors, in different weather conditions. The work environment may include industry-acceptable levels of dust, fumes, and noise.

Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.

Work Status: Permanent, full-time

Hours of Work: Regular hours of work are Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm for 40 hours per week.

Salary: $26.97 per hour
