About this Opportunity

The Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University is seeking a highly skilled psychiatrist to join the East Coast Forensic Hospital in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. As a leading academic hospital, ECFH provides innovative and evidence-based care to patients across the province.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing forensic psychiatric care to individuals in custody within Correction Health Services. This role offers exciting opportunities for research, teaching, and leadership development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide forensic psychiatric care to patients at ECFH, utilizing pharmacological and psychosocial treatment interventions.
  2. Consult with and lead a multi-disciplinary team to develop effective treatment plans.
  3. Participate in on-call rotations and provide 24/7 coverage for the program.
  4. Engage in didactic teaching, research, and other scholarly activities.

Requirements:

  • Certification in Psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) or equivalent.
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the province of Nova Scotia.
  • Experience in Forensic Psychiatry is preferred.

This position comes with a competitive salary package, including an estimated annual salary of $250,000 - $300,000, based on experience and qualifications. Additionally, benefits include comprehensive health insurance, pension plan, and generous vacation time.
