About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef to join our culinary team at The Grand Canal Retirement Residence. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and presentation of meals for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Menu Planning and Preparation: Develop and implement menus that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of our residents.
  • Culinary Operations: Supervise and coordinate the preparation and serving of meals, ensuring high-quality standards are met.
  • Inventory Management: Manage food and kitchen supplies, maintaining accurate records and ordering as needed.
  • Staff Supervision: Lead and train a team of cooks and kitchen staff, promoting a positive and efficient work environment.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks to ensure food safety and presentation standards are met.
  • Cost Control: Manage kitchen expenses, minimizing waste and optimizing resource allocation.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Work Setting: Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, preferably in a retirement or long-term care setting.
  • Physical Capabilities: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a fast-paced environment.
