City Cruises Mate

The Mate is a key member of our City Cruises team, responsible for maintaining the appearance of the vessel, directing daily activities of the crew, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the vessel. This role requires a high level of adaptability, dynamism, and a commitment to our RESPECT Service System.
Key Responsibilities- Provide exceptional hospitality to guests and crew, upholding the highest standards of our RESPECT Service System.
- Assign deck crew tasks and provide direction to ensure efficient operations.
- Stand bridge watch and assist in the safe navigating and maneuvering of the vessel.
- Take command in the event of the Captain's inability to do so.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the vessel, including loading and unloading materials.
- Handle lines to moor vessels to the pier when necessary.
- Stand watch to identify potential obstructions and navigate the vessel safely.
- Assist the Engineer in operating and maintaining ship equipment.
- Escalate any mechanical or maintenance issues to the Director of Marine Operations.
- Must hold a valid Chief Mate (limited for a vessel of 60 gross tonnage) or equivalent certification.
- At least one to three years of maritime experience.
- Current Marine Basic First Aid certification.
- Current Transport Canada approved marine medical certification.
- Valid passport to enter the United States.
- Ability to effectively communicate with guests and crew.
- Energetic and enthusiastic personality.
- Service-oriented and proactive in helping others.
- Ability to work extended periods without sitting.
- Ability to wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
