Opportunity Overview

The University of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Librarian II/III to fill the role of University College Librarian, a permanent status stream position. This opportunity will be based at the St. George campus in downtown Toronto.

This leadership position plays a pivotal role in shaping the library's future, ensuring it remains a vibrant hub of academic excellence that supports the evolving needs of undergraduate students and faculty in University College programs.

About the Role

The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of the library, fostering a collaborative environment with University College leadership, faculty, and staff. They will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to meet the academic and research needs of students and faculty, while also contributing to various committees, projects, and initiatives across the University of Toronto Libraries system.

A key aspect of this role is building and maintaining relationships with faculty, staff, and students to promote awareness of library resources and services. The librarian will support faculty in their digital scholarship, research data management, and open access requirements, as mandated by funding agencies and open education initiatives.

In addition, they will serve as a liaison to University College One Seminar courses and programs, ensuring that library resources are aligned with these educational offerings.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree from an accredited program in library and information studies, demonstrated commitment to inclusivity, diversity, equity, anti-racism, and accessibility, and proven experience providing research and academic support to students and faculty.

They will also have experience building collections, conducting collection assessment projects in electronic and online environments, and demonstrating administrative, managerial, and project management skills.

Strong public service skills, including the ability to provide instruction both online and in-person, are essential, as well as a flexible, creative approach to meeting the needs of students and faculty.

Educational Requirements

A Master's degree from an accredited library and information studies program

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with digital scholarship and/or digital humanities, knowledge and experience in one or more areas of specialization in college programs, and experience developing and managing web content are preferred qualifications for this position.

Salary Information

The estimated salary range for this role is between $85,000 and $115,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
