Job Summary

Deer Lodge Centre is seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team as a Geriatric Care Specialist. As an LPN, you will provide professional practical nursing services to designated patients/residents, including independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Directly accountable to the Manager of Patient/Resident Care, you will provide nursing services to patients/residents, including administering medications, performing wound care, and developing care plans.
  • Collaborate with physicians, professional health staff, and other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive patient/resident care.
  • May be responsible for directing students, healthcare aides, and other support staff in the performance of patient/resident care.
  • Requires a graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing education program and active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required, as well as demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to prioritize care for an individual patient/resident or a group of patients/residents, delegate care appropriately, and monitor outcomes of delegated care.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the healthcare team, adapt quickly to changing situations, and maintain concentration with frequent interruptions.
  • Keyboarding skills an asset.
  • Adheres to all safety and health policies, regulations, and safe work practices.
