Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Coordinator to join our team at YMCA Calgary. The successful candidate will have a strong background in social sciences, human services, or education, and a proven track record of working with newcomer youth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver after-school programs for high school students, focusing on leadership, philanthropy, and job-searching skills.
  • Collaborate with a team of six YMAP Coordinators to design and implement curriculum for youth with varying English levels.
  • Recruit participants through in-school presentations and one-on-one interviews, and provide drop-in and referrals as needed.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports, attendance, and program impact stories, and support program evaluation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools and community organizations, and serve as an ambassador for YMCA programs in the community.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Human Services, Education, Social Work, or Humanities.
  • Experience working with newcomer youth, and a strong understanding of their needs and challenges.
  • Excellent leadership and group facilitation skills, with the ability to adapt curriculum to meet student needs.
  • Strong administrative skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Reliable transportation, with mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR C certification, and a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
