Job Title: Community Worker

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Community Worker to join our team at The Calgary Society of Community Opportunities. As a Community Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering recreational programs and services to individuals with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and other vulnerable populations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess client's relevant skill strengths and development needs
  • Assist clients/guests with special needs
  • Lead groups and individuals in recreational or leisure programs
  • Instruct groups and individuals in arts and crafts
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
  • Assist with coordination of recreational, sport and fitness events
  • Prepare reports
  • Understand principles of group dynamics
  • Plan and carry out recreational, fitness and sports activities
  • Assemble supplies, sports and game equipment
  • Monitor recreational, sports or fitness activities to ensure safety and provide emergency or first aid assistance when required
Requirements:
  • College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year
  • or equivalent experience
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a team environment
  • Valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle
