About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Resources Engineer to join our team at Montrose Environmental Group. As a key member of our Western Surface Water Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, constructing, and managing water resources projects that promote environmental sustainability and community resilience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical input into stream restoration and stabilization projects, ensuring compliance with current regulations and legislation.
  • Manage a variety of projects for diverse clients, including budget and cost control, schedule tracking, and client management.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team on river process-related projects, including subwatershed studies and environmental assessments.
  • Direct and support field data collection exercises, including site reconnaissance, surveying, and data synthesis and analysis.
  • Provide technical support and mentoring to junior team members.
  • Work with regulatory agencies and clients to address project-specific challenges.
  • Obtain relevant provincial and federal regulatory approvals for construction projects.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and work plans.
  • Support business development initiatives, including drafting proposals.
  • Build strong client relationships and liaise with stakeholders.
Requirements
  • 5 or more years of experience in water resources engineering or fluvial geomorphology, specifically related to the design, construction, and project management of water resources projects.
  • Professional Engineer designation (or candidacy) with APEGA is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field. A graduate degree would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with natural channel design, fish habitat restoration, surface water management, hydraulic and hydrologic models, and bridges.
  • Knowledge of current regulations and legislation.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects of various sizes and complexity simultaneously.
  • Experience in writing technical reports and proposals, and giving presentations to multi-stakeholder groups.
  • Strong ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and written.
  • Self-motivated individual, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of hydrology, aquatic biology, and engineering models (HEC-RAS) would be an asset.
  • Experience with design and drafting software such as ArcGIS and AutoCAD would be an asset.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license with no restrictions and a clean driving record.
