Mental Health Care Aide

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Care Aide to join our team at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, BC. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide patient care and support under the direction of RNs, RPNs, and LPNs.
About the Role
As a Mental Health Care Aide, you will be responsible for assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including mobility, transfers, and vital signs. You will also perform nursing procedures, document patient information, and respond to call bells and alarms. Additionally, you will assist with housekeeping activities and observe and report changes in patient progress and symptoms.
Responsibilities
• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living
• Assist with patient mobility, transfers, and related equipment
• Perform nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse, and respiration
• Vital signs, documents on patient's chart and responds to call bells/alarm
• Housekeeping activities relating to maintaining a safe and healthy environment
• Observe and report changes in patient progress, symptoms, and condition
• Assist with the provision of activation and socialization services for mental health patients
• Perform clerical duties and other related duties
About this Location
The Cariboo Memorial Hospital & Health Centre is a Level 2 Community Hospital in Williams Lake. The hospital offers a range of services, including ER, ICU, OR, med-surg, and obstetrical units. Lab and diagnostic imaging are available on site, and the hospital also offers outpatient hemodialysis services. Residential beds are embedded within the med-surg unit on the second floor of the hospital.
Requirements
• Graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant / Health Care Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker registry (please include your number)
