Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Assistant, Virology to join our team at the Provincial Laboratory Medicine Services (PLMS). As a Laboratory Assistant, Virology, you will play a critical role in supporting the laboratory team in the analysis and testing of specimens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and process incoming specimens, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Prepare specimens for testing, including staining slides, performing concentration procedures, and inoculating media.
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, including refrigerators, freezers, and testing equipment.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as data entry, labeling, and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient and effective laboratory operations.
Requirements
  • Completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program and one year of recent, related experience.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
