About the Role

The Physiotherapy Resident is a key member of our rehabilitation team, responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients in a tertiary care setting. This role requires a strong foundation in physiotherapy principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients to identify physical diagnoses and develop holistic treatment plans
  • Develop and implement exercise programs, education, and manual therapy techniques to assist patients in regaining optimal function
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to promote health and well-being
  • Supervise physiotherapy assistants and contribute to the development of team goals and objectives
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or entry-level master's program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (provincial licensing body)
  • Computer skills, including statistics input, word processing, and Outlook
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
  • WHMIS training and certification
  • Additional courses or education in specialized areas, such as cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, or stroke rehabilitation
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, with French preferred
Working Conditions
  • Full-time long assignment, 100% FTE, with 75 hours biweekly
  • Approximately 12 months
  • Shifts may include days and some weekends
  • Travel to various sites may be required
Compensation and Benefits

$33.97 hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
