Job Title: Educational Assistant - Special Needs

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. As an integral member of our school community, you will provide support to students with exceptional needs, promoting their academic and personal growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities in a collaborative environment
  • Participate in pool programs, academic support, and implementing special programs
  • Assist students with learning disabilities, speech/language issues, and other special needs
  • Perform yard duties, lifting, toileting, and pool duties as required
Requirements:
  • Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-2 years of related experience working with school-aged special needs children
  • Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C
  • Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
  • DSW/CYW relevant Autism and/or Learning Disabilities experience
  • Experience working with high school-aged students identified with Learning Difficulties
  • Knowledge of social skills programming, vocational training, and work experience for Autism students
  • Computer skills and communication aides
